Dear Friends and Family,
Last week was a week of "catch up." I had been busy with the musical so several things had gone undone. I think things are about where they need to be now. I think everyone was pretty tired last week and was just trying to make it through the week. We all survived.
I did have an interesting occurrence on Friday. On Friday morning in class I was trying to hurry the kids up on their work. We were going to be presenting a play right after recess, so I wanted to practice it one more time before the kids went out for PE/recess. I had the kids busy working on handwriting. I went desk and moved some papers on it, and all these little bugs about the size of pencil erasers started going everywhere on my desk. I was trying to kill them and brush them off in the floor without disrupting the kids. It was very gross. I finally moved a paper and found the big mother cockroach. It was not your average American kitchen cockroach. This was an African cockroach. It was a couple of inches long and had more than a few babies. I finally had to call one of the boys back to catch the big one because I was too busy chasing the little ones. We finally got them under control. When the kids left for PE, I bug sprayed my desk thoroughly. I kept moving things very carefully on my desk waiting for more to appear. I think I got them all. By the way, we did get to practice the play, and it went well. We had missed practicing the day before because we had an evacuation drill right in the middle of the time that I had the practice scheduled.
We got out of school at noon because it was Free Weekend. My French student that doesn't speak English didn't realize we got out at noon. Oops! I guess I didn't communicate that one very well. Thankfully one of the other parents could take him home.
The weekend was a nice one of relaxing and recuperating. I think I am ready now to face the last three and a half weeks of this trimester. I knew this was going to be a fast one, but it is still going to be finished before most of us are ready for it.
Please continue to pray for the Outreach Weekend happening in two weeks. There will be a team of high schoolers from the States arriving early next week. I'll tell you more details later.
